Since 1970 the International Children’s Art Contest and Exhibition have been held with the aim of increasing communication among the children of the world. Entries come from around the globe, and Pentel is proud to be a supporter of this event.
Depuis 1970 Le Concours artistique international de l’enfance a été organisé dans le but d’encourager la communication entre les enfants du monde. Pentel est fier d’appuyer cet événement dont les candidatures viennent de partout au monde.
About
Children’s art holds a special fascination. For the children who create it, it is a chance to discover a new way of expression using pencils, pastels, crayons and paint. For adults, the art of children provides a glimpse of the world of the child, a place often very different from the hurried, troubled world of the grownup. Children’s art holds a freshness and honesty that many older artists struggle vainly for years to try to achieve. What is most surprising is the innate artistic sense many young artists display with little or no artistic training. It reminds us that art should first and foremost be an expression of the heart and mind, and that technique, while important, should never take precedence over the act of describing what is seen and felt. International art contests and exhibitions provide a means for the children of the world to communicate in a way that transcends race, language and culture. With this in mind, the Biiku Bunka Kyokai (Foundation for Art
Education) of Japan since 1970 has annually sponsored the International Children’s Art Exhibition with the aim of building a greater understanding among the children of the world. It is hoped that by seeing the art of their counterparts in other lands, youngsters, and adults as well, will realize that there is a great deal more than they have in common than that which separates them. It seems that many in other countries share the ideals of the Foundation, for since the first contest, the number of countries participating and the number of entries received have been steadily growing and the quality of the artwork has been consistently high.
Last year, the contest drew artwork from 36 countries and over 15,000 entries of exceptionally high standards were received for judging and exhibiting. Entries for the domestic competition amounted to 100,000 reflecting the status of this contest as one of the largest in Japan; each year the judges of the contest are pleasantly surprised at the originality of the pieces received. This year we take great pleasure in announcing the 50th International Children’s Art Exhibition. We look forward to receiving the continued corporation and support from children and teachers throughout the world that have made the contest such a success in the past.
Les œuvres d’art des enfants exercent une fascination particulière. Pour les enfants qui les exécutent, c’est une chance de découvrir un nouveau mode d’expression avec des crayons, pastels, crayons de couleur et peintures. Pour les adultes, les œuvres d’art des enfant font entrevoir le monde de l’enfant comme celui souvent bien différent du monde pressé et troublé des adultes. Les œuvres d’art des enfants recèlent une fraîcheur et une honnêteté que bien des artistes plus âgés tentent en vain pendant des années d’atteindre et de maîtriser. Le plus surprenant est le sens artistique inné dont font preuve beaucoup de jeunes artistes avec peu ou pas de formation artistique. Ceci nous rappelle que l’art doit d’abord et par-dessus tout être une expression du cœur et de l’esprit, et que la technique bien qu’importante, ne doit jamais l’emporter sur l’acte de décrire ce qui est vu ou ressenti.
Les concours et expositions d’art internationaux offrent aux enfants du monde un moyen de communiquer d’une manière qui transcende la race, la langue et la culture. C’est dans cet esprit que le Biiku Bunka Kyokai (la Société pour l’enseignement de l’art) du Japon a depuis 1970 parrainé le Concours artistique international de l’enfance, avec pour objectif l’accroissement de la compréhension entre les enfants les enfants du monde. Nous espérons voir que les œuvres de leurs homologues d’autres pays, jeunes et adultes, réaliseront que plus nombreuses sont les choses qu’ils ont en commun que celles qui les séparent. Il semble que nombreux sont ceux qui, dans d’autres pays partagent les idéaux de la Société puisque depuis le premier concours, le nombre de pays participants, et le nombre de candidatures reçus ont constamment augmenté, et la qualité des œuvres d’art a été exceptionnelle.
L’année dernière, le Concours a attiré des œuvres de 36 pays, et plus de 15,000 candidatures d’une qualité exceptionnelle ont été reçues aux fins de jugement et d’exposition. Les candidatures au Concours au Japon se sont montées à 100,000 faisant de ce concours l’un des plus prestigieux et important du pays. Chaque année les juges du Concours sont agréablement surpris par l’originalité des pièces reçues.
Cette année nous prenons un grand plaisir à annoncer la 50ème Exposition artistique internationale de l’enfance. Nous espérons bénéficier de la collaboration et du soutien continus des enfants et des professeurs du monde entier qui ont fait par le passé un tel succès de ce concours.
ENTRY INFORMATION
- Open to all children aged 3 to 15.
- We accept applications with unreleased graphic artwork up to approximately 54 cm x 38 cm in size. No applications
accepted with quasi-three-dimensional artwork or a photograph/photocopy/printed matter of the piece. - One entry form (FORM NO.1) from this brochure must be filled out and attached to the lower right-hand corner
of the back of each item submitted. - A list of entries that includes the entry number, title of the entry, and the name, age and sex of each entrant must
be enclosed with each package of entries submitted (FORM NO.2). - All entries from a single school should be submitted as one package. Individual entries conforming to the above
rules will also be accepted. - Each person can enter only one work.
- Only entries conforming to the above rules will be accepted.
- Artwork submitted will become the property of the sponsors and will not be returned.

- Seules des illustrations graphiques inédites d’un format allant jusqu’à environ 54 cm x 38 cm pourront être soumises par les candidats. Aucune illustration quasi-tridimensionnelle ou œuvre photographiée / photocopiée / imprimée ne sera acceptée.
- Une fiche d’inscription (FICHE No.1) de cette brochure doit être remplie et fixée au coin inférieur droit au dos de chaque œuvre présentée.
- Une fiche d’inscription le titre de œuvre, comprenant le numéro d’inscription, le titre de l’œuvre et le nom, l’âge et le sexe de chaque participant devra être inclus dans chaque paquet d’œuvre (FICHE No.2).
- Toutes les œuvres d’une école devront être soumises dans un paquet. Les œuvres individuelles, soumises conformément aux règles ci-dessus, seront également acceptées.
- Un participant ne pourra présenter qu’une seule œuvre
- Seules les œuvres conformes aux règles ci-dessus seront acceptées
- Les œuvres présentées deviendront la propriété des organisateurs et ne seront pas retournées.

As the first month of 2020 wraps up, the New Year is, for most of us, only going to get busier. With tax deadlines, Valentine’s Day, and other events coming up, February tends to keep us busy in both our professional and social lives. Essentially, this means keeping track of dates and deadlines becomes more and more important.
Comme nous nous approchons le deuxième mois de 2020, le Nouvel An nous gardera plus occupés qu’avant. Pour la plupart d’entre nous, à cause des échéances pour les impôts, la Saint-Valentin et d’autres évènements qui viennent, le mois de février ne laisse pas du temps pour se détendre. Ce que ça veut dire, c’est qu’il faut constamment suivre les dates importantes.
But what is the best way to stay on top of all these important dates and deadlines?
Mais c’est quoi la meilleure façon de gérer toutes ces dates à retenir ?
Many opt for the convenience of phone calendars and task productivity apps, but it’s all too easy to swipe that reminder notification off your screen and forget about it almost immediately. Until of course, it’s the evening before Valentine’s Day, and you realize you should have ordered that special gift at the store a week ago. And we all know mental notes never work. Why else would some of us have downloaded five different apps to keep track of our deadlines and to-do lists?
Beaucoup de personnes préfèrent des agendas électroniques et des apps de gestion du temps puisqu’ils sont faciles et rapides à utiliser. Mais il est tout facile de faire glisser vers la gauche pour supprimer les notifications. Et bien sûr, on les oublie… jusqu’à ce qu’il soit le soir avant la Saint-Valentin et vous vous rendez compte que vous avait dû commander un cadeau il y a une semaine. Or, nous savons tous très bien qu’en prendre note mentalement ne marche jamais. Après tout, pourquoi autrement nous aurait téléchargé cinq apps différents pour suivre nos dates limites et choses à faire ?
In that case, handwriting may just be the best (and maybe even the last) option. Physically writing down memos or notes has shown to be more helpful when it comes to remembering information. Typing on a keyboard allows you to take down information quickly, but doesn’t necessarily help you retain that information. On the other hand, taking the time to physically write down notes or memos lets you process information more thoroughly. Handwriting healthily engages your brain. If done regularly, such as daily or weekly, it provides effective reminders for all those dates and deadlines.
Dans ce cas, écrire à la main pourrait bien être le meilleur (ou même le seul) choix. Écrire sur papier ou sur un tableau s’est révélé plus efficace pour se rappeler de l’information. Taper sur un clavier permet de transcrire vite l’information, mais il n’aide pas nécessairement à le retenir. D’autre part, prendre le temps d’écrire des notes nous aide à digérer ce que nous écrivons. De cette façon, écrire à la main stimule sainement le cerveau. Si cet exercice d’écrire est fait régulièrement, il nous fournit des rappels efficaces pour toutes ces dates-là.
